Follow me, Marline, as I go on an adventure to Japan as a foreign exchange student for ten whole months! It's not an entire year, but it's pretty close.
I decided to create a blog about my experience while in Japan for a couple of reasons: 1. To have some form of record of my time there, and 2. One of the rules of the exchange program I am participating in states that communication with friends and family from my home country should be kept to only once every two weeks for thirty minutes for the purpose of preventing homesickness and hindrance of fully experiencing the culture. I thought about simply sharing my stories with my friends on Facebook. That's easy enough right? Well, the downfall to that idea is that I will no doubt end up scrolling through my newsfeed. In doing so I will see stories of what's happening at home without me. That's surely not going to help me in my adventuring in Japan. So I concluded that a blog would be a good way to share my stories with friends and family.
I want to study in Japan because I've always been very interested in the culture, language, and people of the country. I have heard that the education system there is quite different and difficult. I'm the kind of person that loves experiencing new things and challenging myself with something completely different. I love learning about anything and everything, and what better way to learn than in a totally different country from an entirely different system?! I'm super excited to go to Japan and I can't wait for the adventures to begin!
Is there something you want to know? Maybe there is something you'd like me to see or do while I'm in Japan? Shoot me an email and I'll see what I can do!
